WORK EXPERIENCE

Jun,98-pressent

Programmer/Analyst

Currently I am working for a travel-related company. Since I have been there I have created a travel club program that tracks members, and their purchases. The system runs on NT Server, with SQL-Server storing the data for the program. I wrote the program using VB6, RDO, and client/server architecture. I am responsible for the design, codeing, and implementation of the system. I also had to set up and administer SQL-Server, as well as create the tables and stored procedures the program used.

Office Depot, Inc.

Programmer/Analyst

At Office Depot I supported the Help Desk system that existed by writing reports in Crystal report writer, and VB 5. The reports ran against SQL Server 6.5 using a VB front end and stored procedures on the server to compile the data. The reports allowed management to be better informed about Help Desk performance. I wrote a VB application that allowed management to monitor how many issues were resolved by the Help Desk, and the amount of time it took to resolve these issues. I also worked on a team which was responsible for changing the database structure of the SQL tables, and the software to do the necessary data conversions.

Komatsu Latin America

Programmer/Analyst (consultant)

At Komatsu Latin America, I was responsible for creating a voucher system that allowed Komatsu to better track expenses for each department. The system was written in Vb4/32, and used an Access 97 database. I also was in charge of going through existing programs, and making changes in the operation of the software as Komatsu required.

Blockbuster Online

Programmer/Analyst (consultant)

I was in charge of designing and implementing a Visual Basic 4.0 application that allowed Blockbuster to record wave files and graphics for their Web site, www.blockbuster.com. The program allowed the capture team to associate a wave file they had recorded, with the correct album. They also could scan album covers into bmp files, and associate them with the album through a vendor-supplied database. The program used VB-32, SQL Server 6.5, RDO, VbAssist, and a bar code reader to implement the process.

American Cellular Rental

Programmer/Analyst

At American Cellular I created a billing system for the companies cellular phones. This system was a Visual Basic 4.0 application with an Access 7.0 database. The system brought together the data that was keyed in from bills received from the carriers. The data was then crosschecked against a list of known good phone numbers. After doing the verification, the system would print bills for customers, and print exception reports for any suspected over billing. The system would also allow the user to maintain current cellular phone data.

Statia Terminals, Inc.

Programmer/Analyst.

I converted a Clipper 5.0 application that performed different blends of components in a what if format. The goal of this program is to achieve the desired specifications for an end product at the lowest possible cost. The Visual Basic application has 3 screens, and prints out a run sheet showing proportions needed for each component in the blend.

I also worked on porting into Visual Basic 3 a Plant Management System written in Magic. The Visual Basic system tracked orders created at the plant, and generated invoices for services received by customers. The system also has the mission critical task of tracking inventory stored by customers in Statia's tanks. The program allows users to analyze both on screen, and in print, a current status of inventory stored at the site. Visual Basic allowed the system to have a more user-friendly feel than the Magic application which is DOS based. The Visual Basic application was also designed to incorporate Oracle SQL as its database system. Currently the data resides in an MS-Access database.
